Question by goldcrush22: How do i know which weight to put in on the gym machines (elliptical, treadmill) if i only weigh-in month ?
I am strength training ALOT and i know that i have gained lean muscle mass. That why its pointless to keep getting on the scale, because i know that as i’m losing fat (say 1 pound) , i am also gaining muscle (say 1 pound). I want the machines to give me an accurate accountof the calories burned, but i only want to weigh in monthly to minimize my frustrations. Maybe i should just type in the weight i want to be on the machines, stick to my time limit and forget what the machines “say’ i’ve burned ?…guess it is a lifestyle.

Best way to work at the gym is a GOOD TRAINER.
If you don’t have one, ask a Sport Teacher about the muscle groups you want to work.

Question by because I’m a mermaid.: What would be the best “cardio machine” for me?
At the gym there are ellipticals, treadmilles, bikes, those stepping machines (kind of hold yourself up with your hands and move your legs), and sit down bikes..

I usually go on the elliptical, as I tend to burn about 500 calories per hour. However, I don’t know about it anymore. I have pretty thick legs..when I lose, they get toned, but not really smaller, you know? (I want them smaller!!!) I do Billy Blanks workouts (which have lots of squats, but I know the body it will give me as i used to do it a lot and it seems to give you a nicer shape than the elliptical). And turbo jam I also do.

I am kind of hourglass shaped…I carry my weight in my upper thighs/hips/butt/back of my waist. But my shoulders are not narrow like a pear. I’m wide from the front but flat..it’s weird. I’m tired of being big and toned. I’m envious of the small girls even if they have cellulite!!

Try really long-term endurance based workouts as opposed to interval, MIET and strength workouts, it’s really hard to maintain muscle mass if you’re one of those athletes and doing no direct resistance training.

You can also try changing things in your diet to increase catabolism, be careful with this though because it’s really easy to get this wrong and deprive yourself of something you need.

This may not mean anything from a stranger on the internet (a buff stranger at least) but from your photo I think you’re looking great!
