Post Pregnancy Abdominal Exercises: Get That Tummy Flat And Sexy

Congratulations, mom!

You’ve just given birth to a beautiful, healthy baby. Your body has just gone through nine months of incredible changes, and the delivery process has pushed your body to its limits. Now, the question on your mind is: “What do I do to get my tummy back into shape?”

Luckily, there are specific post pregnancy abdominal exercises you can do. But don’t go jumping on a treadmill the day after giving birth. Give your body a break for about two months—allow the body to heal.  

During that time you can do some light stretches so that your body maintains its flexibility, but, overall, I would suggest that you take it easy. Then, after your two months are up, you can start exercising.  Don’t force it, by trying to do 100 crunches on day one because you’re not only getting your tummy back into shape, but you’re rebuilding your abdominal muscles, and that’s a gradual process. The process is more like rehabilitation, or physical therapy, than it is a Jane Fonda-style workout.

First, you want to start with a simple pulling in of the abdominal muscles. You want to feel like you’re pulling your belly button back toward your spine, then hold that for 10 seconds and release, and make sure to continue breathing while you’re holding.

You can do that one sitting down or standing up, but you should do it about 10 times a day. What’s happening with this exercise is that your abs are getting used to that feeling of abdominal muscle contraction.

•    For our first “real” exercise, you’re going to want to lie on the floor in a relaxed position, with your arms at your side and your knees bent.  Slowly slide out, and then slide back in, one leg at a time, never letting your foot or heel off the floor. Alternate, and repeat 25 times on each leg.

•    Your second exercise starts in the same position – but this time, you’re going to lift one leg, still bent, and slowly extend it out straight, then back in to the bent position before resting the foot again on the ground. Do 25 times for each leg.

•    For this next exercise, you’re still on the floor, but you’re going to raise both knees up so your lower legs are parallel to the floor. Then, alternate bringing one leg at a time back down to the original position, going back and forth. This should be done slowly to get the most impact to your abs. Repeat this 10 times at first, and then work up to 25 times each leg.

•    Finally, this one is a combination of the second and third exercises above. Lift both your legs up, keeping your knees bent’ then, slowly extend one leg out and bring it back in slowly.  Repeat 25 times for each leg.

For each of these exercises, you should maintain your breathing and keep that feeling of pulling your belly button in toward your spine. You’re not putting any direct pressure on your abs, which is a good thing – these post pregnancy abdominal exercises, instead, help you to strengthen the abs indirectly, so as not to cause any harm to them. After doing this for a couple of months, you will be ready to really step it up and get into phenomenal shape.

How to Get Rid of Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain may be common among active people.  Its first few symptoms may be stiffness in the shoulder area with concomitant slight pain.  The shoulder may also feel heavy, with the pain gradually increasing causing more discomfort.  This is normally indicative of the fact that tendons in the shoulder are swollen or inflamed.  There are a number of methods which can be resorted to if only to relieve persistent shoulder pain.  But it must be emphasized here that the ultimate objective of relieving or getting rid of shoulder pain is not just to ease out the pain but to also restore the normal functioning of one’s shoulders.  It is possible that under normal circumstances no pain is felt in the shoulder area except when certain activities are performed such as carrying solid objects even if such objects are not really heavy.  In this case, the shoulders may not experience any pain under relaxed conditions but the person may not carry out certain normal or usual activities and functions.  

Therefore, the question on how to get rid of shoulder pain should boil down to relieving the pain and restoring the normal functioning of the shoulders.  

To relieve shoulder pain, some rehabilitation therapists would recommend an active rest of the shoulder.  This however does not mean that the person is prevented from moving the shoulders and doing certain light activities.  “Resting the shoulders” only means that a person avoids doing excessive and strenuous activities that may stress and aggravate the conditions of the shoulders.  Some of these strenuous activities include lifting heavy weights or objects, push ups, other sports such as badminton, basketball, or tennis among others.  

Putting ice on the part of the shoulder where the pain is persistent may also prove helpful.  The idea is that the area where the pain is most felt may be an inflamed area.  Ice has the effect of easing out the inflammation.  Thus, applying ice may prove helpful up to some extent.  Drinking anti-inflammatory medicines which have pain-relieving effect may also be an effective method to get rid of shoulder pain.  Ibuprofen and naproxen may work against shoulder pains.  

One alternative means of relieving the pain in the shoulder area would be acupuncture.  Limited forms of exercises may also be advised.  Shoulder exercise however must be done meticulously so as not to stress the shoulders.  Special shoulder exercises which consist of some simple motion exercises as well as aerobics will help keep the flow of the blood in the injured tendons thereby reducing soreness.  Since these are special exercises, it is always best to consult with your doctor first before doing the exercises.  If one smokes, it is advisable to stop to allow for more oxygen to reach the injured part therefore accelerating the healing process.

If despite a good rehabilitation program the pain is still not relieved, it may be that the tendons have been torn.  In this case, a surgery may already be necessary.  In such a case, consulting with a physician is again the best thing to do first.

We can say that of course the most obvious positive thing about the Cintura 2000 elliptical cross trainer is the price. However, the Cintura 2000 elliptical cross trainer seems to be very much more reliable then other elliptical machines especially when it come to the durability of the machine. The machine does not seem to have a noise problem, which is another plus.


The only drawbacks that we see on this machine is that the warranty is not really specified on the manufacturers website. In fact the website only seems to talk about fitness and staying in shape and does not necessarily even come close as to giving you any idea of what type of warranty they may offer. This could be an issue, however due to the solid construction of the machine, it is not something to really worry about. Especially when you are considering the price of the  Cintura 2000 elliptical cross trainer.


Overall, the Cintura 2000 elliptical cross trainer seems to be a well put together machine that rivals other machines in its class in all aspects and comes with a nicely fixed price tag that would fit any low budget for an elliptical machine.
