Question by octoberangel21986: What kind of exercise do you do for strenght and circuit training?
how many times should you do it?

Best answer:

Answer by lv_consultant
for strength training utilizing compound exercises will always be optimum. a compound exercise is one that involves 2 or more joint movements. I would perform a “heavy” training day and a “light” training day. the heavy training day would be when each set would be from 8-10 reps and light would be from 15-20 reps.

Bodyweight Circuit Training For Muscle Density And Fat Burning?

Bodyweight Circuit Training that’s for the aerobic’s crowd from the 70′s isn’t it?

How is it possible that doing a bodyweight circuit training workout can get you results in lean muscle gains, muscle density and fat burning?

“This isn’t for me. I’m an old school guy. Barbells, Dumbbells and Kettlebells are the way to go,” right? If your not lifting something heavy your really not working out right?

Or So I used To Think

Let me just step back a second……

Now I’ve been a weight training guy for almost 40 years now. I grew up on the lift big and get big philosophy. I was 13 saw a bodybuilding magazine while I was at the Jersey shore and was hooked. I lifted with the idea of gaining as much muscle as possible.

A few years back my ideas about training and how I wanted to look changed. I decided I was getting a little older so I wanted a more lean muscled athletic look. Increase my muscle density and burn more fat. I started reading about bodyweight circuit training and interval training.

But You Don’t Lift Anything With Bodyweight Circuit Training?

Do You? I didn’t think so. See I didn’t consider bodyweight exercises as resistance training.

I figured if I wasn’t lifting anything how could I keep lean muscle while dropping body fat and increasing my muscle density?

Could A Bodyweight Workout Like This Add Lean Muscle And Burn Fat?

Jumping Jacks
Push – Ups
Squats
Burpees
Mountain Climbers
Lunges

Now typically with a circuit training workout what you do is one exercise after another, rest about 1 minute and continue for 3-6 circuits. Do this 3-4 times a week. The workouts should take no more than 30 minutes.

So as I said this is a few years ago before interval training and these circuit training workouts started showing up online. Now many years ago bodyweight exercises were very popular in the fitness and bodybuilding circles. But with the advent of aerobics and all the shiny machines they were forgotten. So here was my problem the years of heavy weight training added muscle but also some fat.

What Should I do?

At the time the consensus was running. Jump on a treadmill run for an hour or so 5-6 day’s a week. I hate to run. So this idea didn’t sit well with me. So anyway as I said I started reading about interval training and these bodyweight circuit training routines like the one above.

Let me tell you I thought this won’t work it’s too easy. Boy was I wrong.

I barely got through the circuit twice. So right from that first workout the way I was huffing and puffing trying to get through that circuit twice I knew okay there is something to these bodyweight circuit training workouts. And I could do them at home was another added bonus.

And they take half the time of those marathon cardio workouts that were all the rage.

Question by TheHeftyLefty: What’s better for beginners circuit training or regular weight training?
I have a friend who is 30, not really overweight, but would like to tone up and lose 10-20lbs. Should I recommend having him workout with weights one day, next day cardio, and so on. Or should i have him do circuit training one day then cardio another. I’m thinking for starters like 3-4 days of exercise for the first week. And up the intensity in the later weeks.

Best answer:

Answer by Nathan F
I would reccommend that he joins a local gym that way he can have access to state of the art equiptment and advice, if he wants to lose weight i would reccomend starting on circuit training of just using a treadmill. if not going to the gym then i would advise going on short jogs, one week for 5 mins a day 10 mins the week after and so on until your friend gets into a routine. i would reccomend press ups rather then weight training do the same as the jogging 5 then 6 then 7 and so on.

Hope this helps

The Best Exercise Plan For Circuit Training

Every person is aware of the value of physical exercise as properly as other physical things to do to one’s wellness as well as the circuit training and also to lose belly fat. Regrettably, many modern day day males and women are preoccupied using the ever-increasing demands of work, loved ones, as properly as other crucial matters that they have no time to comprise workout in their schedules. Many people are looking for ways to improve their physique, develop their muscle tissue, and remove pressure with no consuming as well considerably time .

A great method to strengthen one’s wellbeing and physique is by carrying out a physical exercise routine program known as “circuit training.” This form of instruction software consists of moving from 1 power education regimen to another, inside a specified quantity of time, while using the goal of functioning the major muscle groups inside the upper physique, reduced real structure, and core. Persons who desire to look at this program will need to bear in mind that no two consecutive workout routines ought to target the similar muscle group. While in circuit education, people generally perform workouts in about 20 to 30 seconds accompanied by a 30 second recuperation in between each exercise. 3 to five sets of workouts are done using a three minute restoration in between every set.

Circuit training might improve power, muscle endurance, and metabolism as a result of continual movement. Also to these wellbeing gains, if circuit workout routines are accomplished at speed, some rewards of aerobic physical exercises could be accomplished as nicely. Nonetheless, this form of software alone might not burn ample calories to showcase substantial weight-loss. This workout software, like other coaching packages, have positive aspects and cons.

Advantages of Circuit Training

Advantages of Circuit Training

The advantages of circuit training are many. I run not only a personal training service but also a circuit class 3 times per week that many of my current clients attend to get a bit of extra fitness training in. The advantages of circuit training are wide spread. First of all one of the main advantage circuit training has over forms of traditional training is time. Rather than working on separate goals such as strength, endurance, cardiovascular conditioning, agility and flexibility in different sessions which can lead to a lengthy training week all these elements can be worked on in one hour session! If your goals are pretty much for an increase in all elements of fitness coupled with some fat loss you can’t go far wrong with circuit training. The second advantage of circuit training is equipment. To get a really good circuit training workout your really don’t need any equipment at all. Body weight training is completely sufficient for circuit training so this means you can train nearly anywhere! A little equipment can be used to spice up a circuit training routine but a simple kettlebell, medicine ball or set of dumbbells is more than enough. The third advantage of circuit training is that of cost. No expensive gym fees or restrictions are placed upon you. After the initial out lay for a stop watch and if you choose a piece of equipment you’re set!

Here is an excellent circuit training technique that will give you a whole body workout and can be done anywhere it just requires a pack of cards! This will really show you the advantages of circuit training for overall fitness

Shuffle the deck well- (you’ll see why this is really important in a minute) leave the deck face down on a table. Assign an exercise to each suit- multi joint compound exercises are the order of the day-I like to choose  hearts-Hindu press ups, clubs- burpees, diamonds- squats, spades- jumping lunges. Now start the stop watch and deal from the top. The numeric value of the card represents how many reps of that given exercise to complete so 8 of spades for me would be 8 jumping lunges. Work your way through the deck as quickly as possible and aim to beat your time each time you train.

What is the Best Circuit Training For Rapid Fat Loss?

Not all circuit training is created equal, so what is the best circuit training for rapid fat loss? The answer is alternation. This means that the circuit will not resemble that of traditional strength training, or even strength training circuits, where one performs a singular exercise for one muscle group in succession before moving on to another body part or a different exercise. Instead the best circuit-training plan to lower body fat percentage is to use different parts of the body in a strategic manner, alternating between large and small muscle groups, and incorporating short spurts of aerobic intensity between sets. This type of “loading” has been proven to yield results in extremely short periods of time, less than what is spent in the gym.

Keeping the body working laterally and horizontally, while challenging the cardiovascular system and toning up the muscles, requires that the workout looks a certain way. Circuit training doesn’t take a long time and is the best way to eat up calories and to get the body to shrink those unwanted fat cells in a hurry!

What does this look like in “gym-speak?” Words such as superset, tri-set, and jumping, lunging, and squatting will be key components to creating rapid fat loss within the body. A unique approach to circuit training is referred to as the 50-10 Circuit Training Method. This means that you perform 5 total body-conditioning exercises for 50 seconds each and only allow for 10 seconds of rest in-between sets. This looks something like:

1) Jumping Squats (50 seconds)
2) 10 second rest/water
3) Pull ups (50 seconds)
4) 10 second rest
5) Triceps Dips (50 seconds)
6) 10 second rest/water
7) Walking Lunges (50 seconds)
8) 10 second rest
9) Push Ups (50 seconds)
10) 10 second rest/water

Alternating each exercise to incorporate smaller muscles as well as larger ones means that every time you do this type of training it results in an extremely well balanced, efficient, and quick exercise program. If you repeat this high-energy, butt kicking circuit 3-4 times, it will equal out to 15-20 minutes of high intensity fat burning exercise. This 50-10 format has similarities to “boot camp” training and is intended to get your heart rate elevated, and your cardiovascular system running on high!

The reason that this type of circuit is the best for fat loss is in the nature of the design. When you shock your system into this type of speed interval training, your body will have to call on stored energy reserves (fat), since your body will tap itself out of ATP. Our body’s first response to this type of intense training will be to draw upon our ATP stores in order to give us a short burst of intense effort and strength. This however, can’t maintain long term energy within the body, so the body will be forced to call upon the second and third sources of energy (sugar and fat) in the body to get the workout done in the time that you are trying to accomplish it.

Lose Weight and Keep It Off With Circuit Training Workouts

If you are looking to lose weight and keep it off for good, then you need to look no further than circuit training workouts. Circuit training workouts such as ChaLEAN Extreme, can help you shed the unwanted pounds by slimming your body and giving you the metabolism boost you need to keep the pounds off.

Circuit training is based off the simple principle that muscle burns fat. It has been proven, that the human body will burn more calories when you have lean muscle than when you have more fat. Circuit training involves a quick paced workout of different strength training moves and exercises. Not only does this type of workout give you the benefit of developing lean muscle, it also involves a cardiovascular workout, which helps burn calories and keep your heart healthy. You can easily lose weight during a cardiovascular exercise, but when you do circuit training workouts, you are looking at the long term of losing weight and keeping it off.

With such workouts as ChaLEAN Extreme, the whole point of the program is to quickly move from one exercise to another so that you are raising your heart rate as well as benefiting from the strength training exercises. There is no taking a break in between a set of squats. Instead you will do a set of squats and within the next 10-15 seconds move into a set of bicep curls.

Most of the time the sets are brief as they last no longer than 30-60 seconds. So that may mean you do 15 squats and then move into 15 bicep curls on each arm. After one full set, the exercises are usually repeated or you can choose enough different strength exercises to do a full 30-45 minute set.

When you gain lean muscle with circuit training you are going to be able to raise your metabolism. This means that you can burn fat at a faster pace even while you are sleeping at night. What person would not want to lose weight while sleeping and resting? Not only will you lose weight quicker, but you can keep it off for good by keeping a regular routine of circuit training workouts.

Even though circuit training workouts like ChaLEAN Extreme are not the easiest workouts, they are the most beneficial when it comes to weight loss and getting that slim and toned body you desire. When you first start a program of this nature, you just have to make sure that you are not pushing yourself to the point that you are risking injury. You will need to push yourself, but you need to find a balance at what you body is capable of. Beginners who are new to circuit training may find that they are easily tired, but if they stick with, before they know it they will be losing weight and gaining more energy and strength.

Circuit training does not require any big piece of exercise equipment or a large investment of money. You can simply buy a program like ChaLEAN Extreme so that you know how to correctly do the exercises and you get the maximum benefits from the exercise. You will just need a set of free weights and resistance bands if you wish, to effectively burn fat, get lean muscle and get the body of your dreams.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Intensive Six Pack Abs Program through Circuit Training

Abdominals are the most problematic body part when it comes to muscle building. Bodybuilders who temporarily stopped from working out can still retain their defined muscles in almost all body parts, but skipping a couple of abdominal exercise sessions will cause the abs to lose their muscles and return to its flabby state. Abdomen tends to store fats easily, and losing it is very difficult.

Six pack abs programs have a very intensive nature. But people can modify the program from time to time and introduce variations in their workout. Program for abdominal training is not as strict as the other programs.

One type of abdominal program is basic circuit training. Circuit is defined as completing a series of exercises and their recommended number of sets and repetitions. Listed below are some tips for a basic circuit training:

One session should be composed of two circuits for the first two weeks of training. Inject a maximum of 30-second rest period between each set of routines. Rest period between successive circuits should range from 1 to 2 minutes.

After the second week, a person will get used to the program and should slightly modify it to advance the training to a higher level.

Increase the number of repetitions to three times per session. Include moderate weights for each routine. Plates and dumbbells can be used. Weights can be increased to 10% or less as the muscles strengthen.

Presented below is a sample schedule for a basic circuit training.

Monday

Abdominals are emphasized and exercises should be done in single sets with 15 repetitions, unless specified. Rest periods between sets should be avoided.

Traditional crunch Bent-leg knee raise Oblique V-up – 10 repetitions for each side Bridge – 2 repetitions Back extensions

Abs training should be followed by a full-body workout. Each routine should have two sets with 12 repetitions. Rest period between sets should be strictly followed.

Squats Bench press Pull down Military press Upright row Triceps pushdown Leg extension Biceps curl Leg curl

Tuesday

Light cardiovascular exercises for 30 minutes. Tuesday training is optional.

Wednesday

This is a full-body workout with emphasis in the abdominal areas, and is very similar with the Monday training. The number of sets and repetitions for abdominal exercises are maintained, but routines are changed.

Standing crunch Pulse up – 12 repetitions Saxon side bend – 10 repetitions for each side Side bridge – 2 repetitions Back extensions

Full-body workout is the same with the Monday training.

Thursday

Training is an optional 45-minute cardiovascular exercise.

Friday

Legs and lower body are emphasized in a full-body workout. Routines are done in two sets with 12 repetitions.

Squats Bench press Pull down Traveling lounge Military press Upright row Triceps pushdown Leg extension Biceps curl Leg curl

Basic circuit training can be restructured to become suitable for intermediate and advanced training. Advanced circuit might include low-intensity cardio exercises in the morning and workouts for various body parts in the afternoon. It also requires fasting before the morning session, and weekends will be included in the program.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Extreme Weightless Circuit Training Leg Workout

Hi everyone and welcome to the extreme weightless circuit training leg workout that can be done literally anywhere!  I know a lot of you out there think that the only way to build muscle and strength in your legs is by doing lifts with hundred of pounds but after you try this workout, let me know if you changed your mind.

The truth is you really don’t need a lot, if any weight, to do an effective leg workout.  All you need is the right exercises and you can build legs that look and are in dramatically better shape than any number of squats will do for you.  Best of all, you can do this workout almost anywhere, even at home, and its a lot safer for you as you are not putting hundreds of pounds on your back!

This is a circuit training workout and there are 4 exercises per circuit with a moderate to high rep number per exercise.  Depending on your physical ability, you are going to want to perform the circuit 3 to 5 times per workout.  As this is circuit training, remember you are going to want to try and take as little rest as possible between exercises and between circuits.  Concentrate on breathing properly on each rep and sticking to good form.  Focus on telling yourself you can do it in times of fatigue.

Extreme Weightless Circuit Training Leg Workout – Perform 3 to 5 Circuits per Workout

Exercise 1:  3 Way Lunge

5 Three Way Lunges per Leg

Exercise 2:  1 Leg Twister Squats

12 Reps on Each Leg

Exercise 3:  1 Leg Physioball Circle Curls

6 Reps Clockwise & 6 Reps Counter Clockwise per Leg

Exercise 4:  Mini Box Squat Jump

10 Reps

After the first circuit your legs are going to start to feel tired, but keep it going and you will see what type of a workout it is if you complete 5 circuits.  This leg workout not only works your leg muscles but also requires a lot of balance and therefore working on your balance is another benefit to this workout, witch in the end, helps you be that more athletic.

Doing this type of training and moving from one exercise to another is the best way to burn fat, build muscle and get ripped.  These types of workout, over a few months can drastically change your body and get you that ripped athletic physique that graces 90% of the fitness magazines published these days.

If you want to achieve a ripped, muscular body, you need to first plan out how to do it.  The essentials are a workout and nutrition plan.  Workouts similar to the one presented above are great if you are trying to get that athletes body but you need variety.  You need variation on tempo, rep counts, and perform and go through circuit training and non circuit training phases in order to keep your muscles guessing and never letting them adapt to your works and thus continually progressing your transformation towards that lean, athletic and ripped look.

The Power of Circuit Training

When trying to build muscle and lose fat, circuit training is by far one of the best ways to do so. But before you start you should have a little insight of the two types of training methods you will implement into your circuit program. These two different methods of training are Aerobic and Anaerobic conditioning.

Aerobic training is defined as activities performed at a low intensity, for a extended periods of time. A good duration for an effective aerobic exercise should last anywhere between 20 to 45 minutes. Exercises such as cycling and running for long distances are considered great methods of aerobic training. These are traditionally the preferred methods to burn fat, but they are not necessarily the most effective.

Anaerobic training is defined as activities performed where oxygen is used up more rapidly than the body is able to replenish inside the working muscle. Anaerobic conditioning consists of muscles contracting at high intensities for short durations of time. Weight lifting, sprinting, and plyometrics are good examples of anaerobic exercises. Sports that execute high levels of anaerobic conditioning for example are football and mixed martial arts.

A widely popular misconception about Aerobic exercise is that it’s the best way to lose fat and burn off calories. The most effective way to lose fat is by replacing it with muscle. Muscle naturally causes your metabolism to work at a higher rate throughout the day, causing you to burn fat and calories more rapidly. Only performing aerobic exercises will help you lose fat, but it will cause you to lose muscle as well. Doing just aerobic training is the long way to lose fat. The most effective means to lose fat and get ripped is done by implementing both anaerobic and aerobic movements into one workout regimen to achieve the maximum results you desire. This is done with Circuit Training.

Circuit training consist of 5-8 exercises completed one right after another with little to no rest in between them. Each exercise will mainly be core movements, which are better for building strength and muscle faster. Also, core exercises help you burn substantially more calories overall than isolated movements. A great benefit to circuit training is that, opposed to traditional weight training routines, that take any where from one to two hours to finish. Circuit training takes 20 to 45 minutes to finish, causing you to burn more calories in less amount of time. Due to the high intensity of circuit training, your metabolism will continue to work at a high rate throughout the day, thus causing you to burn a substantial amount of calories even after you finished your workout. This effect is nearly nonexistent in low intensity weight lifting, cardio or aerobic workouts.

There are two types of circuit training you can do. Either by weight lifting, where you would work two opposing groups of muscles at once. Or with body weight exercises (calisthenics), combined with plyometrics.

Now it’s no surprise that during a bodybuilding workout, the different muscle groups you are working on all need an increase in blood, water, nutrients and oxygen to produce energy, strength and stamina, but when the nitric oxide is naturally released, it’s in such small amounts that it can only benefit you for a short period of time, after that everything goes back to normal. Taking the supplements allows your body to hold onto a higher level of nitric oxide.

hotandhealthyliving.com With summer just around the corner I thought Id ask my good friend and fitness expert Marissa Lysaght, co-owner of Fitness Redefined (www.fitnessredefined.com), to create an intense circuit training workout combining cardio bursts with resistance training. I can assure you this type of training is the fastest and most time-efficient way to blast fat, boost your metabolism and get a full-body workoutin the shortest time possible. One of the best things about this workout is that you dont need a gym or any fancy equipment (a stop watch and pair of 5 or 8 pound dumbbells is all you need.) But, when I say the workout is intense, Im not kidding. This is not the sort of workout you can not do while chatting with a friend or zoning out watching your favorite TV show. After doing just one 6-minute circuit I was so out of breath I could barely talk (which was most embarrassing considering Marissa is 5 1/2 months pregnant and was breezing through the workout while describing how to do the exercises.) How the Workout Works In a nutshell, this workout will elevate your metabolism and help you lose excess body fat. The short and intense cardio bursts in this 30-minute workout program are one of the most effective ways to boost the after-burn, or the number of calories you burn after your workout is over. So, with this workout, you wont just be burning calories during the time you spend exercising, youll be burning calories for up to 48 hours after your workout

Question by Hard Boy: Is circuit training helpful for different sports that require endurance in a major or minor measure?
Do you know what circuit training is? It is a set of different strength exercises you perform one after another with no rest between each exercise.
Sometimes circuits are combined with running. I’m trying it, and it is tougher than without adding running.
Is circuit training helpful for soccer, running, cycling, basketball, martial arts, pentathlon/decathlon and other sports?
