At Home Workout – Shoulder Exercises With Dumbbells

When it comes to getting a complete upper body workout, it’s important not to neglect working your shoulders. It is recommended that you do shoulder exercises with dumbbells because they force you to use more muscle groups as opposed to just using elliptical machines or free weights. You can do this by doing the following shoulder exercises with dumbbells to help develop broader shoulders for a more well-rounded look:

1. Dumbbell Shoulder Press – The dumbbell shoulder press can be done in either a standing or seated position. Start with a dumbbell in each hand, resting just above your shoulders. Now press them straight up without locking the elbow. To complete the dumbbell shoulder press, slowly return the weights to their original position. Do 3 sets of 8-10 reps.

2. Dumbbell Shoulder Shrugs – To do dumbbell shoulder shrugs, start standing with a dumbbell in each hand, feet shoulder width apart. Lock your elbows, and raise the weights by making a shrugging motion. You should feel the strain in the tops of your shoulders, into your neck area. Do 3 sets of as many as you can.

3. Dumbbell Shoulder Extensions – To perform dumbbell shoulder extensions, start with a dumbbell in each hand, feet shoulder width apart. Now raise the dumbbells straight out in front of you until they are at the same height as your shoulders. Then slowly lower them back down. Then raise the dumbbells straight out to your sides until the weights are level again with your shoulders. To finish, slowly lower the dumbbells back down. Perform these shoulder exercises with dumbbells twice a week, progressively increasing the weight.

Remember that it is during your resting period that the muscle actually repairs itself and increases its size, so make sure not to overwork yourself. For more information regarding shoulder exercises, or a detailed outline on a complete upper body workout, check out Insightful Health and Fitness.

As withany dumbbell exercise, form is key if you want to maximize your muscle building efforts and minimize the chance of injury. Don’t use too much weight, if you can’t do the exercise slowly then you need to go lighter. Count aloud “one onethousand, two onethousand, three onethousand” on the way up and the way down, if you cant do this on this exercise then you are using too much weight. The reason this exercise method maximizes your muscle growth is because it confines the motion to the muscle you are trying to work out, if your body squirms, swings, and kicks, all you are doing is taking the focus away from the muscle you are trying to exercise. Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn’t have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. A cheap dumbbell set from a garage sale or walmart is all it takes to get started with your home workouts. Setup Your Own Home Gym For Less Than 00

If you like the idea of being able to exercise in the comfort of your own home or simply don’t have the time or money to spend on expensive gym memberships and personal trainers then it’s about time you consider setting up your own personal home gym. Setting up a simple home gym doesn’t necessarily have to cost you a fortune, all it takes is a little research and thought about your budget and fitness goals.

Generally speaking your home gym should contain a balance of both cardiovascular and strength training equipment to help your body reach its optimum level. Cardiovascular exercise equipment includes treadmills, elliptical trainers, spin bikes, etc. These will help you lose weight and reduce your risk of encountering heart problems. Strength training equipment includes your dumbbells, barbells and bench equipment. Strength training is vital to improving your muscle mass and will give your body that toned shape and look.

Even if you had an unlimited budget you are still limited to the space in your home and garage so planning is essential on not only what equipment to buy but where to put it as well. You’ll need room to place all your equipment and be able to operate them comfortably with a lot of room. Most homes will have a garage big enough to store all the fitness equipment you need however if you really are short on space you should consider purchasing a ‘multi gym’ which will have all your strength training in one compact piece of equipment. You’ll also need to consider the available power points as some fitness equipment will have LCD screen displays that require a power outlet.

With 00 as a budget you’ll have plenty of options in purchasing a perfect gym set up for your home. Firstly in terms of cardiovascular exercises you’ll probably be leaning towards buying either a treadmill or an elliptical trainer. A high quality treadmill or elliptical trainer that will give you years of usage will most likely cost you around 00. After you’ve chosen your perfect cardio equipment it’s time to move onto strength training.

Here you’ll have quite a few options and choices to make. Whether you want a set of free weights, dumbbells, barbells and benches or just simply a single multi station gym is up to you. Either way you can purchase good quality strength equipment for less than 00 that will work all the muscles in your upper and lower body. Of course you do not necessarily have to go with this set up, alternatively if you want to focus more on your muscle groups more money can be spent on them to purchase better quality pieces of equipment and cardio can be substituted with a simple skipping rope or you could spend more on cardio equipment and substitute the strength equipment with a standard medicine and a few dumbbells. Certainly what you get is what you pay for so the more money you spend the better quality your equipment will be.

With this in mind it’s up to the individual to choose the right set up that suits their fitness goals and budget. Home gym equipment is becoming more and more popular as the prices for good quality equipment are constantly decreasing. Assess your fitness regime and requirements to choose the perfect set up for your own home. Weight Training Exercises At Home – Workout Schedule For Building Muscle

Weight Training Exercises At Home

In such a article I am going to share amidst you my customized workout schedule for building muscle which had helped me to raise over 16 pounds of lean muscle mass in less as opposed to 12 weeks. It is a acutely effective two day body-split workout routine. The most ideal truth on this workout schedule is this the workouts are not too long, yet they’re highly effective.

Day 1, Monday – Chest and Triceps 1) Incline Bench Press – 4 Sets x 8-12 repetitions 2) Flat Bench Press – 4 sets 8-12 reperitions 3) Dumbbell Flyes – 4 sets x 12 repetitions 4) Skullcrushers – 4 sets x 12 repetitions 5) Tricep Pushdown – 4 sets x 12-15 repetitions Weight Training Exercises At Home

Day 2, Tuesday – Shoulders and Abs 1) Seated Dumbbell Press – 4 sets x 6-8 repetitions 2) Dumbbell Lateral Raise – 4 sets x 8-12 repetitions 3) Dumbbell Front Raise – 3 sets x 8 repetitions per hand 4) Various abdominal exercises for 20 minutes

Day 3, Thursday – Back and Biceps 1) Pull-ups – 3 sets x MAX. amount of repetitions 2) Bent-over Barbell Rows – 4 sets x 8-12 repetitions 3) Dumbbell Rows – 4 sets x 10-12 repetitions 4) Deadlifts – 4 sets x 6×8 repetitions 5) Preacher Curls – 4 sets x 12 repetitions 6) Alternating Dumbbell Curls – 3 sets x 6-8 repetitions per hand

Day 4, Friday – Legs 1) Barbell Squats – 4 sets x 8-12 repetitions 2) Leg Press – 4 sets x 12-15 repetitions 3) Leg Extensions – 4 sets x 12 repetitions 4) Lying Leg Curls – 4 sets x 8-12 repetitions As you can see using this workout schedule you only train one large muscle group per workout. For new lifters this kind of approach to training is very effective, because you don’t overtrain and large muscle groups get more time to recover.

This eventually leads to quicker progress and improved muscle gains. Also you should notice that almost every workout session starts from heavy pressing movements like the bench press, dumbbell press or squats. This is because these kinds of movements trigger the maximum release of anabolic hormones within your body which stimulate more muscle growth. Home Gym Buying Guide

Home Gym Buying Guide

Selecting the correct gym equipment is important as it is a big investment. If you make the right selection you will get years of satisfying training with great results, all in the convenience and comfort of your own home. Make the wrong selection and you will end up with an expensive clothes hanger.

The following items need to be considered when procuring a gym:

1) Functionality – does it offer good quality exercises that deliver results?

2) Quality – is it manufactured with the necessary quality and durability to withstand hard and consistent training?

3) Space – work out your footprint for your gym

4) Budget

Functionality for Home Gym Equipment.

In my opinion the key aspect of procuring a gym is that if you hit the weights hard, eat right and take care of yourself, you will get results. If your gym does not allow you to do the major compound exercises like squats, bench press, lat pulldowns, rows etc then you are not only wasting your money you are also wasting the time you have spent training. Isolation exercises are great for shaping existing muscle. But if you don’t have enough existing muscle you need to focus on doing compound exercises to build your base strength and muscle mass.

You now have to work out whether you want to go the free weight or machine home gym route. When I refer to free weights I mean training the old fashioned way with a power rack, barbells and dumbbells. In regards to home gyms, you will have to decide between a traditional cable style gym or a leverage multi gym.

Before you decide on whether to go free weight or a machine, you will need to think about what you are trying to get out of your weight training. If you just want to be fit and healthy and are not too fussed with greatly improving your size and strength a home gym will be the best option. Alternatively if you want to build strength or bulk up then a power rack will be the best bet. If you want to build strength and add muscle mass but can’t stand free weight exercises then a leverage home gym is the go.

In recent years there has been an avalanche of cheap cable home gyms hitting the market out of China. While some exercises like lat pulldowns or seated rows are great in cable format the majority of the exercises, and in some cases all the exercises on these cheaper gym are just rubbish. Many times these gyms are just replicated from photographs by factories where the people building them don’t have any interest in weight training. So it looks like a home gym, but the exercises feel weird and can sometimes been downright dangerous. Give cheap gyms the swerve!

There are very good quality cable home gyms on the market but they are nearly always restricted to the weight stack that is on the gym. Some gyms only have 200lb or 90kg stacks. Many gyms have a mechanical advantage – the arrangement of the pulleys mean that you can lift 90kgs of weight with only 60kg of force. That might amaze your friends when you show them how strong you are but sooner or later you will get on some proper gym equipment and look like a turkey!

Another factor with good quality cable gyms is that they often don’t have quality compound exercises. In particular a flat bench press or squat. Seated presses, pec decs, leg extensions and leg curls are good but are no substitute for bench press and squats. They are great for convenience, just put the pin in the weight stack and away you go. You need to work out whether you want to do weight training or not.

Home Gym Quality

Gym equipment needs to be robust. If you are a committed weight trainer you will be training up to 5 times a week and lifting serious weight. Your gym equipment needs to reflect your commitment. A cheaper home gym simply does not have the feel and quality required for serious weight training.

I have seen it so many times; people try and cut corners when buying gym equipment and the following happens:

1) You lose the passion for training as you don’t warm to the cheap feel of an inferior gym.
2) Their training is not adequate. They won’t train key bodyparts like legs because they don’t have the tools to do it.
3) The gym dies and collects dust in the garage
4) End up selling the cheap gym and buying a quality gym – losing coin in the process.

Although quality gym equipment seems expensive it is actually a smart investment. Buy the right gym and it will give you a lifetime of training plus great results. Plus you will save a fortune on gym fees.

A good quality Leverage gym like the Powertec Leverage Gym or Powertec Multi System allows you to perform many exercises with safety like cable home gyms.

Space

This is an issue for most people. There are two factors that you need to consider when selecting your gym equipment.

Firstly you have to work out how much space you are willing to set aside for your home gym. Once again you will have to determine how dedicated you are to your training. Remember that you will be training regularly so it might worth sacrificing your collection of crap in your garage/spare room that has not been used in years.

Parking the car in the driveway may also be considered.

But in reality for most the amount of space will be determined by the missus.

With your home gym area worked out, now comes the fun part. Selecting the gym equipment to fill the space. Don’t make the common mistake of getting carried away and trying to cram in as much as possible. Training in an overcrowded gym is no fun.

I always advise that you go with a little less than try and fit too much in your home gym. Take into consideration that you need to focus on your compound movements to get results and Sam’s Fitness has several different packages that can achieve this result without taking up much space at all. The Ironmaster range is perfect for when space is at a premium.

Budget

I mentioned previously the investment aspect of buying a home gym. I hate using terms like that because everyone seems to use it these days. But as I have said many times before if you train with weights consistently you will get benefits. Training at home is much more convenient for most people so it will help with your consistency.
You need to take into consideration how much you will be spending on gym memberships over the coming years.

As above you will most probably need approval from the wife or girlfriend – good luck.

Conclusion

Hopefully this article has given you some ideas on your home gym. Feel free to contact us directly if you need a hand with planning. We get a lot our business through referrals from previous customers so we know we are doing something right.

A lot of time you will talk to sales people who have never actually trained extensively on the equipment they are selling. We pride ourselves on the fact we have trained for years on Powertec and Ironmaster fitness equipment.

Weight Training Exercises For Women

Its unquestionably ridiculous to think that some people feel that you can never engender muscle at home in bodyweight exercises. Well, I’m going to give you certain useful guidelines to benefits jump start your bodyweight mass soar program: * Your body doesn’t really know how much weight it’s lifting. All it recognizes is stress. Hence, the key to building lean muscle mass is to make your body work harder. There are two ways you can make your body work harder: use more difficult exercises and incorporate high intensity techniques. Weight Training Exercises For Women

* You can easily make a basic exercise more difficult just be changing your hand grip. For example, with a pushup, if you bring hands closer together, the exercise becomes more difficult. The same is true for the bodyweight squat. The closer together you keep your feet, the more difficult the movement.

* One of the best intensity techniques for mass gain is alternating sets. To perform an alternating set, you simply perform a set of one workout, rest 30-60 seconds, then move onto the second exercise. After resting 30-60 seconds, return back to the first exercise.

* Another way to make an exercise more difficult is to make it more explosive. For example, drive your body up forcefully during apushup and try to catch air. See if you can clap in the air. Explosive movements engage more muscle mass, and hence are perfect for a mass gain program.

* If you’re struggling with basic pushups and pullups, you can perform more easier versions of these movements. For example, to make a pullup easier, you can place a step underneath your feet while hanging onto the pullup bar. Use the step to boost yourself up slightly so that you can perform a full pullup. I hope these tips have helped you develop better bodyweight workouts for muscle mass. Start taking action to gain your muscles by Getting Your Weight Training Exercises For Women eBook now!

Shoulders maketh the man.” No doubt you’ve heard this maxim uttered dozens of times, but have you ever actually pondered why it rings true? A set of broad shoulders isn’t the only marker of a man’s masculinity, but it is a powerful one. Dating back to ancient times, representations of great conquerors, warriors, kings, and gods have always come complete with wide, strong shoulders. Military uniforms have often featured padding and epaulets to make the delts appear wider and more massive.

Upright Exercise Bikes Are One Of The Best Choices For Your Home Fitness Program

Upright exercise bikes are great for many reasons, but mostly they take up very little room (as compared to some pieces of cardio exercise equipment), and they allow you a great workout without as much impact as many traditional forms of cardiovascular exercise.

Best of all, exercise bikes provide all these benefits in a very low impact way.  Many of the best exercise bikes are rated for weights of up to 300 to 400 pounds, so finding a good one should not be that much of a problem.

Upright exercise bikes are great for those who like to ride, but are unable to ride a traditional outdoor bike. The new upright exercise bikes are so quiet you’ll even be able to watch your favorite television show or listen to your favorite radio program while you ride. Almost all upright exercise bikes include a console which monitors your workout.

Upright Exercise bikes are one of the most popular home fitness machines on the market. These bikes give you an effective workout and promote a healthy lifestyle. One of the best things about exercise bikes is that there is no learning curve.

These bikes more closely resemble a real bicycle than the standard upright stationary exercise bike and are most often used in a group exercise class. In addition, upright exercise bikes can provide an excellent cardiovascular workout, and cardiovascular exercise has been shown time and time again to reduce the occurrence of many of our most serious diseases, including heart disease, diabetes and others.

Most upright exercise bikes provide a way to adjust the intensity of a workout, and this is an especially important factor for those embarking on an exercise routine. Another good way to track your level of fitness is to use the heart rate monitor that is included on many models of upright and recumbent exercise bikes. One of the reasons people buy exercise bikes is because their knees and ankles may not be able to take the pounding from jogging and running.

Finally, upright exercise bikes are small than recumbence and take up less floor space. The upright exercise bikes are taller, and do not have back support, but do allow more body movement than recumbent exercise bikes. You will have fun, enhance your fitness routine and burn calories with exercise bikes.

Let’s be honest– exercise can be boring. Most of us just want to get through the workout and on with the rest of our day. In the business of fitness solutions, Proform created Gamefit Interactive Video Games to help make exercising a little more fun.

GameFit Video games not only keep you entertained throughout your workout, but because the games get easier based on how hard you exercise, they also help you get the most out of your workout time.

In addition to the interactive video games, it also features 10 workouts created by a Certified Personal Trainer to help you slim down and tone up. With all the other necessities like digital resistance, smooth magnetic resistance, and more, this is a great choice for anyone looking for a little something more in an upright bike.

Upright Exercise Bikes are an incredible popular form of exercise – that machine is a staple in most every gym I can think of, and many home gyms almost always have an exercise bike. Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Home Gym Buyers Guide – Discover These 5 Key Tips

Home gyms, or multi-gyms, can be useful exercise equipment to own, offering the chance to enjoy a total body workout in the privacy of your home. With a good fitness system in your residence, you no longer have to suffer the inconvenience and expense of going to a health club to exercise.

The downside? Shopping for one of these machines can be a confusing, time-consuming process. There are so many questions to address.  For example, how many exercises should each machine provide?  Should you get the optional attachments?  What should you look for in a warranty?

Buying a piece of fitness equipment as large as a multi-station gym is a major investment, and the time you spend researching will be well spent.  Here are five key tips that will help you save money and get the best equipment for your needs.

1) Evaluate available space

A home gym will require as much square footage as a wall-unit entertainment center.  Before you go shopping, take measurements of the height, length, and width of the area in which you’re planning to set up the equipment.

Plan on having enough space to maneuver around the machine, too.  There’s nothing more annoying than bumping into walls and furniture while you’re trying to work out. If you can set aside an entire room, section of your garage, or corner of your basement to your gym, that would work best.

2) Range of exercises

Most home gym systems offer the capability to perform dozens of exercises.  Having variety is good — it will keep your workouts interesting.

At the minimum, the equipment should include a chest/shoulder press, high pulley, low pulley, leg extension, and leg curl/exercise attachments.

Don’t let a slick salesperson talk you into buying extra attachments just yet.  Get the machine home first, use it regularly for a few months, and buy the add-ons once you’re certain you’ll use them.

3) Resistance Type

The majority of gyms offer fixed weight stacks, plate-loaded systems, or rods.  Each type of resistance feels a bit different.  This is when you’ll benefit the most from visiting a sports equipment store in person and trying out various models.

A basic unit should include at least 200 pounds of resistance.  Although it’s good to have the option to upgrade to additional poundage in the future, unless you’re training for a power lifting tournament, it’s unlikely that you’ll ever need more than 200 pounds.

4) Construction Quality

The frame should be heavy, and sturdy enough to resist wobbling.  Look for equipment constructed of tubular or rectangular steel, as these tend to be the most durable.

5) Warranty Coverage

A solid warranty provides 10 years of coverage for the frame, 1 year for moving parts, and 90 days for upholstery. Should you get an extended service plan? Honestly, if you purchase a quality product, you won’t need one, because the better home gyms on the market will usually include a comprehensive, long-term warranty.

Question by Zwerg: Im thinking of buying a Multi-Station home gym, do you recommend it?
I was thinking of buying one of these multi-station home gyms. I dont have the time to go down to my local gym, and I thought this might be the best solution. But some friends say its not a good idea, some saying its better to be at the gym itself because youll have friends helping you and encouraging you, and others say that this device is a waste of money and its not as effective. What do you recommend? Any Ideas? I really need to do something about my work out but I have no time! Please help!

How to Use and Choose a Home Gym in Scottsdale

Thinking about buying a home gym in Scottsdale? This article will provide you with information on how to use a home gym, along with basic safety and buying tips. Whether you’re looking for a basic setup or one with the latest technology has to offer, the following information will be beneficial to you and will help you choose the exercise equipment that’s right for you.

Home gyms combine a number of pieces of equipment for various strength training exercises. They have different configurations that offer exercises for legs, arms, chest, and back. You will usually be able to do a seated bench press, flys, a pulldown or row, leg extensions and curls. Some have a leg press. Some have pulley systems that allow a variety of exercises. Often there is a biceps attachment and you can do pushdowns for your triceps. You may be surprised at how many exercises you can do on a home gym! If you’re looking for extreme intensity with your home gym, try doing your exercises slowly to make them harder.

Here’s a safety tip: Be careful! Pay attention to what you’re doing. Practice proper techniques and use same precautions you would with anything that has moving parts or heavy objects. And remember – always consult a physician or healthcare provider before beginning an exercise program.

Shopping for a home gym in Scottsdale can be very intimidating! There are so many different brands, models and styles it can be next to impossible to choose the right one for your home. For most people, buying a home gym is a major investment. It’s also a good investment for those who have decided to make a conscious effort to be fit and healthy. That is why it is important to put together a checklist that identifies attributes that are most important for you and your workout. Here is some information that should help you out:

There are endless options when it comes to choosing the right fitness equipment for your home gym in Scottsdale. But the choices for weight training equipment basically fall into a few categories: portable, free weight, multi-gyms, and total gyms. Aerobic exercise equipment such as treadmills, rowers and stationary bikes are always options for a great cardio workout, but for now we are going to concentrate on strength training equipment.

Portable Equipment – Includes everything from dumbbells to workout benches, stability balls, steps, mats, ab machines and more. If you can pick it up and move it, it fits in this category. The main advantage of portable workout equipment is that you can fold it up (if necessary) and put it away when you’re through with it. Some equipment, like stability balls and mats, is even compact enough to be taken along on a trip which makes portable equipment a popular choice for home gym equipment.

Free Weight Accessories – This includes adjustable benches, power racks, barbells, dumbbells and plates (also called round weights). While some of these things may be portable, they are all categorized as heavy duty equipment that often times are part of a larger assembly. If the space you require for your home gym is small, free weight accessories are probably your best bet. You’ll be able to get a great strength training workout in with equipment that will test you to the max.

Multi-Gyms – There are several different types of multi-gyms available for home use. The first type is based on steel or composite bands and cords that create resistance. The second type is based on stacked weights, uses a cable and pulley mechanism and allows you to select the desired weight. The third type includes round weights that are manually fitted to barbell extensions. All of these are great options for a home gym. What you choose will depend upon the type of workout you’re trying to achieve and the amount of space you have in your home.

Total Gyms – A total gym uses an adjustable bench and a sliding seat platform that increases resistance based on your own body weight. While the total gym may require more space, it will allow you to incorporate more strength training exercises into your workout.

To help you decide which option to choose when it comes to home gym equipment in Scottsdale, you should consider what your goals and level of commitment are. The best way to decide on equipment is to test it out before you buy it. It could save you from wasting a lot of money!

Do You Want to Build Your Own Home Gym?

Home gyms are becoming a rage these days. People are converting their study rooms and part of their sharing space in their house to accommodate a home gym. Home gyms are preferred because they cut down on time, are convenient and provide privacy. Before you zero in on a home gym of your choice, you need to consider your fitness need, the space available and then make a budget accordingly.

First and foremost do not cram your gym with all sort of needless equipment. For instance, if you want to lose weight or gain cardio resistance, then equipment like a powered cross trainer, a mechanized treadmill and a Swiss ball is enough. If you need to do strength training, then a Smith machine which costs 0 is apt. The cost of building a multi-gym to tone-up muscles can cost a cool 00 upwards. This will include things like lighting, flooring, ventilation system, music and ambience.

The minimum area needed to build a home gym is about 150 square feet. There should be some area to move around too. If you have a 200 sq feet area, you can include a Jacuzzi as well. Apart from the main machines like the treadmill, the power plate machines; you should also keep dumb bells, resistance bands and an aerobic box. You should refrain from building your home-gym in the basement area.

Flooring is also an important part while building a gym. You can choose between rubber flooring or a vinyl flooring. Rubber flooring is good for cushioning any falls. One can be comfortable standing, running or walking freely easily unlike a tiled floor or carpeted flooring. Also rubber flooring can easily reduce the impact of any equipment fall. Rubber flooring is easy to maintain and clean as well. Vinyl flooring cuts down on the noise, is stain resistant, is hygienic and can be easily cleaned.

Light and air are two important factors in a gym. It is preferable to have a bold color on the walls to create the vibrant feeling. The lighting that is used should not hurt the eyes. You can have the lights hidden within concealed gloves. You can also use light fixtures that are shielded with frosted glass. This emits softer light which does not cause problems to the eyes while looking up at the ceiling. Dimmed lights are good for Yoga exercises or if you are relaxing after a workout session. You can also have lights concealed behind mirrors affixed on a well-lit wall.

Mirrors are an important part for your home gym because it helps to check your posture while you are working out. An exhaust fan and air conditioner also have a vital role to play when your body begins to generate heat and sweat. You can also keep your TV at eye level so that you don’t have to crane your neck while watching it. There is nothing like an invigorating music going on that compliments your workout style.

Here is a killer arm workout you can do at home with just a set of dumbbells to help get those huge guns, I’m sore for days after doing this workout. This is an arm workout for the advanced bodybuilder, if you are new to bodybuilding please check my website for a more appropriate workout. There are six exercises, three for biceps and three for triceps. The entire workout takes 45 minutes and there is very little down time. Make sure you have done warm-up sets for both biceps and triceps before starting this workout because we start in with really heavy weights and you don’t want to get injured. Intensity and focus are really important when you do this workout. Don’t hold back anything, treat every set as if it were your last. I know I sound stupid with all my grunting and groaning but when I give it 110%, I can’t help it. In this workout we do one exercise for biceps then without rest do the opposing triceps muscle. Here is the workout: Biceps: dumbbell curl using forced negatives Triceps: skull crushers Rest 60-90s while preparing dumbbells for next exercises Biceps: Twenty-ones with barbell Triceps: narrow grip bench press Rest 60-90s while preparing dumbbells for next exercises Biceps: reverse grip barbell curls Triceps: dumbbell kick backs Repeat the above five times, the complete workout should take about 45 minutes. If you don’t like reconfiguring the dumbbells all the time you can also just do each bicep/triceps combo 5X and then move on to the next combo.Anyone

Don’t let the TV ads convince you to buy some bulky contraption that will gather dust in your closet, crunches are safe and effective! This video clip shows how to do crunches with varying degrees of difficulty based on your ability. Remember that ab exercises alone will not give you abs! If you have the best abs in the world they will be completely invisible if you are overweight. Aerobic exercise and proper diet are even more important than ab exercises in getting that sought after 6-pack. Form is very important in crunches, many people do them incorrectly and end up working out their neck or hips more than their abs. Use slow movements and only use the abs. Concentrate on trying to raise your shoulders straight up towards the ceiling. Don’t worry about how many reps you do but focus on using perfect form. No whipping the head around or flapping your arms! This is not a sit-up either, the hips are stationary. Also important is to minimize any tension in the neck, I do this by very lightly supporting my head with my hands or the weight plate The main reason to workout abs is because strong abs stabilize your lower back and shield you from injury but as a side benefit a 6-pack looks great! For more ab exercises: scoobysworkshop.com Nutrition is key to getting abs! I cover the nutrition basics on mywebsite, if thats not detailed enough for you I have reviewed and recommended some excellent books: scoobysworkshop.com Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better
