I already have a weight bench and weights. I worked out under my school’s football weight lifting program, and I want to do my own but I’m not sure about what routine I should use. Any suggestions?

mon- work out your shoulders, your upper back, and your triceps
tues- run and do other cardio
wed- work out your pecs, biceps, forearms, and abs
thurs- run and do other cardio
fri- work out your lower back and your entire legs.
relax or do light exercises on the weekends. and remember more reps of less weight is better. do sets like this
do 3 reps rest 30 seconds and repeat. do it 8 times. thats a total of 24 reps
or do 15, 15, 12, 12, 10, 10
or 10, 5, 3 and then keep doing 3′s until you fail.
MAKE SURE YOU DO IT WITH A SPOTTER. any friend that can help get the weight up wwhen your muscles go into shock. its happened to me hundreds of time. i always have my friend or dad spot me. oh and free weeights are always better than machines.

I was born with an extrememely thin upper body and thin shoulders so I’d very much like to change that, and i’ve been doing a ton of pullups but they haven’t helped me at all in building my back muscles. I’m just trying to bulk up, and more specifically im trying to obtain that V-shaped back. Also, for the shoulder exercises i cant do handstand pushups so if anyone has any advice i’d be grateful. Thanks in advance!

You should try swimming on a regular basis, like 3 times a week. It’s an excellent exercise that tones just about your entire body.

I know you can’t spot train, but I work out everyday and the only abs machine my gym has is the equivalent of a crunch. I want to work out my abs more, but what is there besides a crunch. Especially for my obliques, which the crunch machine at the gym can’t get.

an excellent exercise, you can do it in front of your TV: sit on a stool, and put your toes under something (piece of heavy furniture, for example). In your hands hold a little dumbbell. Please, make sure that it is not very heavy, start with one kilo, for example, or you will damage your back and spine! Slowly move the upper part of your body back, until it’s parallel with the ground. Stop for a second and move it back to the sitting position. Repeat ten times. Every week add to the number of repetitions. You will see the results in a week, guaranteed! You will see or feel under the fat – if you have any – six pack and muscles. Dumbbells do wonders. Much better than these crunches – I came up to three hundreds and there was no results AT ALL. With the dumbbells you will see it in a week.

take 4lbs dumbbells and lift up above Ur head and bring it down 15 times in a set 5sets can tone Ur arms and do curling with weights.

The technical side of my game is pretty good, but I really want to improve my strength/conditioning. I’m 5’6″ and only 120 pounds, so needless to say, I’m not as much of a physical presence in the box as I should be. i’m 6 tf and 180 lbs, and being vertical is very important. do a lot of lunges, explosive squats which is when u get down, and explode up as fast as u can and your feet should be in the air,and leg strengthing excerises…a simple one is bounce the ball hard and jump up and get the ball like a high ball with a knee up. important thing is reps, doing it over and over and over again. also jump and tap the crossbar switching legs. also on stairs hop over 2 or 3 steps on both feet, then hop up and down each step on one foot. hope it gives you ideas…

contradictory to popular belief you have to do cardio to burn that excess flab off your abs, then your core exercises will show results. if you work out your abs, they will get stronger, but the layer of fat just sits on top of your muscles and prevents them from looking good.

Hey there,
Anything that works your upper abdominals will work your lower ones as they are all the same muscle the “rectus abdominus.” But if you really want to target the lower abdominals specifically then any movements that involve lifting your legs really work the lower abs and hip flexor muscles.
The best exercises are:
- Leg raises
- Hanging leg raises
- Reverse crunches
- Scissor kicks
- Hip thrusts
